Video shows train smack wall – Breaking News, U.S., World, Weather, Entertainment & Video News

If you have not yet watched the video of the Train Wreck in Spain yesterday, you will not believe it. This train looks like something out of a Hollywood action movie. The accident is so bad you seriously won’t believe what you are seeing.

I do not believe there is any question that speed had a lot to do with the accident and I cannot believe the fella driving that train meant to be going as fast as he was because he had to know there was no possible way he could make that turn. The last report I observed said 77 dead. It is hard to believe anyone lived.

If you are not familiar with trains, they are very heavy. And quite tall. But they follow the rails with ease even at higher speeds . . . Until something goes wrong. Then it is one car after the next to the sounds of screeching metal to metal impacts until the train comes to rest. A train wreck has got to be one of the most frightening accidents to be in.

Just last month a train hauling oil wrecked along the Canadian border almost wiping a small town off the map.

Like I said, trains are heavy. Think of big semi trucks 2 tall and 25 long. Seriously picture something that large and that heavy rolling down the tracks. Trains take a while to gain momentum. They take longer to slow down safely. The locomotive that pulls the train in Spain may have weighed over 200 tons. The rail cars it was pulling maybe 90 tons. Do you have any idea how hard it is to lift  90 tons off the ground. Rail cars in this accident were believed to have raised up to 16 feet off the ground. This was a horrible accident. My condolences to the families of those involved, and the people of Spain.
