You might believe that webcam on your computer safe but hackers have a new word for it “SEXTORTION!”

I guess the recent hack of a baby monitor is bringing new cases of hacking to the public eye. In the subject story, Miss Teenage U.S.A. says she was the victim of sextortion.

She received an email from somebody that claimed to have pictures of her from her webcam on her computer in her bedroom. This leaves a whole bunch of possibilities for people to suddenly find themselves victim of this new crime.

What happens is a hacker hacks your computer then accesses your webcam without your knowledge. Your webcam can be made active without showing the “active light, which means the hacker can see and probably record anything appearing in the cameras view. Could be a serious issue if in a child’s bedroom or even an adults bedroom for that manner.

Folks, it is simple . . . Unplug your camera when not in use. People need to realize that a picture today can ruin your life tomorrow. Some people are quick to say “Who cares.” But, when you are trying to get elected as a U.S. Senator you will be the one that cares.
