Our subject story tells us of a Teacher that has become quite irritated with his job and a few parents, venting his anger via Twitter and being pretty blunt about it.
As a Parent we would like to believe our child always tells us the truth and we tend to rush to their defense even when we should not. But, are we doing our children a favor by doing so? Maybe we need to question the integrity of the stories we are told. Maybe we need to let our children work out some of their issues for themselves.
First allow me to put this situation into perspective for you. Have you ever visited your child’s school? During regular class time? Unannounced? Try it! The school you and I attended no longer exists. Teachers try their hardest to teach while have the class is talking and playing games with each other. Another bunch of kids are playing with the phone or texting someone. Two students are trying to learn, paying attention to the Teacher the best they can and taking notes. You do not believe me? Go to your child’s school and look in the door window while trying not to be observed by the students, you will not believe it.
The subject story tells of a parent removing their child from the class because the teacher is strict. Parents, should rush to this Teachers defense a she is the one trying hardest to teach your child something other than how to be an idiot. Any teacher that extends as much work as strictness would require in the classroom is giving all they have to give. He/She is definitely giving more to her students than they are giving in return. And, the Teacher is a “dreamer,” still believing the little hemorrhoids in the class teachable. Any Parent that believes their child’s teacher is being too rough on their child, is an idiot. Teachers do not have time to pick on your little boy or girl. Teachers are far too busy defending themselves from the abuse they have to deal with daily from students.
I think the best thing public schools can do for the education of our children now is, place cameras in all the classrooms to monitor the students behavior. That way parents can observe the conduct of their child without having to be in the classroom at the same time. Trust me, your little Billy or Bonnie are not the good little kids you believe them to be.
If you really care about your children, stick up for their teachers once in a while. You cannot handle a group of 20 or more children for any more than 15 minutes, they do it all day. They probably know your child as well if not better than you.
