Man, 80, to be charged for killing ‘pregnant’ intruder? – CNN.com

There was a time when I would have never considered harm to a pregnant woman acceptable . . .

Man, 80, to be charged for killing ‘pregnant’ intruder? – CNN.com

Ou subject story discusses an 80 year old man that comes home to a burglary in progress, ends up being assaulted by a man and a woman, gets his gun and shoots at them. The woman says, “I am pregnant, don’t shoot me!” He shot her anyway.

It used to be, criminals had a code, that said do not harm pregnant women or little children when committing violent crimes such as robberies. There has never been a code that says do not shoot a pregnant criminal. And, there really is no need for such a code . . .

If you are a pregnant woman, committing violent felony crimes and beating up 80 year old men . . . Whatever happens to you is your fault. Whatever harm comes to your unborn child is nobody’s fault but your own. It may sound like I am being rough on the woman in this case, because I am. You knew you were pregnant before you ever started to commit the crime. You knew you could be arrested. You knew you could get harmed by wrestling with the police, or anybody else, including the homeowner. You knew you could have been killed by police and/or others during the commission of the crime. Yet, you still participated in the commission of the crime. I am sorry, this is an adult woman that is mature enough to be pregnant, be a mother, but chooses to endanger her life and that of her unborn child. I woman this stupid should not have been allowed to breed.

I am sorry, but this is ridiculous. WTF! Why was this woman committing this crime instead of home ensuring the safety of her unborn child. I do not care if she was at 4 weeks or 36 weeks. If you as a woman know you are pregnant, or even suspect that you may be pregnant, your number one concern is for the safety of that child. And, if it isn’t you should not be pregnant.

To top it off she physically assaults the 80 year old herself. Why should an 80 year old man take getting beat down by a woman. His collar bone is broken. He is in pain. Even in the best of health, he has one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Why should he be expected to give allowances for the woman’s claim of pregnancy? She did not give allowances for his being 80 years old did she?

This is an unfortunate situation. But, the woman was responsible for the care of her unborn child, not the 80 year old victim. The 80 year old victim had every right to defend himself and his property. It is not against the law to shoot a fleeing felon in most states in America. The woman simply made a very poor decision affecting both her own and her unborn child’s life. I am sorry again, if you are this stupid, please do not breed . . . There are far too many stupid people out here as it is, we do not need you breeding more.

(I know, I should feel guilty for the harshness demonstrated towards this woman, but I just do not see any responsible woman endangering her unborn child like this. Had she of been just a “get-away” driver or a “lookout” maybe, but she actually participated in the physical assault of the old man. There is some degree of parental neglect that cannot be acceptable regardless the result. this woman did not leave her baby in her hot car while shopping, she took him into a crime to be killed!)

    • My opinion comes from the violence she committed against the old man. Had she of just been the driver she may not have known of the violence, still just as guilty, just may not have known the violence committed.

      • Rich – You are a better person than I am. Anytime someone and in this case two individuals break into a private residence, the driver is just as guilty. Of course that’s my opinion but, our normal and sane morals and values are escaping generations. I believe it’s easy to move into a lawless nation without being equally forceful with all criminals.
