10 Reasons NOT to Text Message Your Rideshare Driver . . .

Some RideShare Riders think that text messaging their RideShare Driver is a cool way to contact the driver. Here is ten reasons why it isn’t:

  1. Because there is a car in front of me . . .text_drive
  2. Because there is a car behind me . . .
  3. Because there is a car beside me . . .
  4. Because there is a car coming towards me . . .
  5. Because that is a Red Light . . .
  6. Because that is a stop sign . . .
  7. Because that is a curve . . .
  8. Because that is a set of train tracks . . .
  9. Because that is a school zone
  10. Because there is a cross-walk . . .

While some really professional drivers may be able to read text messages while they drive, most of us will likely endanger somebody’s life were we to take our eyes off the road long enough to read you text message. There might even be a couple that could reply to your text message. I know many a police officer that is capable of driving while using a laptop computer without difficulty. But, a phone is much different. Phones are small, do not have a full size keyboard, and require most people actually watch while typing the message.

It does not take anything more than a small amount of common sense to realize that “texting” while driving is stupid. DO NOT set your RideShare Driver up to have an accident, hurt him/herself, or somebody else. Most newer cars have “handsfree” telephone capabilities that allows the driver to answer, talk, and hang up their phone when done. If you must contact your rideshare driver, use voice telephone. Never Text Message a driver. It is just too stupid to think that a driver has enough time to devote attention to reading and writing text messages. Oh, you can do it? Bullshit! We see you every time you fuck with your phone, and steer as far away from you as we can. When you mess with your phone instead of paying attention to the road, you cross over into other lanes of traffic, miss stop signs, red lights, and just barely pedestrians. We can tell a texting driver easier than a drunk driver. At least a drunk has alcohol as an excuse, what can you use for texting while driving? There is no cure for STUPID!
